This class meets on Sunday nights from 6 PM - 8 PM. This is a verse-by-verse study of the books of the Minor Prophets; we will look at the historical context and the national issues the Lord is addressing through the various prophets. This course will be taught with an emphasis on personal application in our lives and walks in Jesus Christ

Reading Requirements:
Remember that reading through your Bible is far more profitable than just reading the commentary. Any commentary should be viewed as a supplement to the Bible.
Bible Reading Assignment:
(to be completed each week before class)
• Read through the each minor prophet once, in your Bible.
• Read the through each minor prophet one additional time, in a different translation, (NASB, NKJV, NIV…), in one sitting.
Commentary Reading:
• Required Commentary: Exploring The Minor Prophets by John Phillips ISBN # 0825434750
• You must read the corresponding section of Phillips that we are covering in class
Term Paper Assignment: (Due date will be picked in class)
You will have one paper due for this course.
• Pick one minor prophet and summarize their life and ministry. What is the historical context? What was the major issue(s) they addressed? What was the impact of their ministry? How does their life and ministry relate life today? Your personal application?
• I would like each student to pick a different minor prophet and share their term paper in class as a oral presntation
Term Paper General Requirements:
• You need to have at least one page of personal application for each paper.
• Be sure to stay focused and on the topic.
• Your paper must be 4-7 pages in length, not including your Title Page and Bibliography.
• Should be typed, double-spaced, #12 size font, on 8½”x11” paper.
• If unable to type, please write legibly on 8½”x11” notebook paper. I must be able to read it in order to grade it!
• Please site at least 3 sources, in addition to the textbook and Bible. These must be referred to in either footnotes or endnotes.
We will have a final exam on the last day of class. The final exam will be open Bible and will cover major concepts covered in class
